Party Proves Popular

Judging by the number of RSVPs we've received, the prospect of a soiree with Else/Where:Mapping contributors is a hot ticket among the many possible Monday evening activities in Manhattan. Sorry to inform all who haven't replied that we've reached capacity at the Van Alen Institute for May 1 and the guest list is now closed. Check back often for more related events in other cities.

So What's This Book About?

The University of Minnesota Design Institute's new book ELSE/WHERE: MAPPING charts the ascendancy of mapping as a fundamental design process--a powerful interdisciplinary strategy that links people and places, data and organizations, and physical and virtual environments.

Featuring 40 essays by writers from the U.S. and Europe, nearly 300 images, and several commissioned projects, the book's four sections juxtapose archival maps and experimental prototypes—opening up a new dialogue among disciplines.
